Budget Watch

In an effort to keep the Lanterman community informed about the state of California budget, and how the budget will impact funding as well as programs and services, we are launching “Budget Watch.” “Budget Watch” will feature links to informative news articles, updates from the Governor and Legislature, and links to various budget-related Web sites. Stay tuned to this section for all the latest breaking news and information as the budget situation develops. Please note: Content posted in this section is for informational purposes only and does not necessarily represent the position or views of Lanterman Regional Center.

Lanterman's Position
Lanterman's current position is detailed in the paper, Toward a Sustainable Entitlement for the Developmental Services System: A Regional Center Perspective, of which a revised version was released February 4, 2004. Before reading the paper, please read a letter from Robert Wedemeyer, Lanterman's board president, that provides a history and explanation of the paper. An executive summary of the paper is also available.

California Disability Community Action Network (CDCAN) Alerts and Reports
In an effort to use our resources wisely, we are providing a link to the CDCAN Web site for access to Capitol Reports and Action Alerts. A new report is posted on a daily basis and action alerts when needed. Visit this site often for the latest news about the budget straight from Sacramento. The site also features lots of other budget-related information including links to the Governor's 2004-2005 budget, documents from the Senate and Assembly Budget Committee and a host of other information.

Association of Regional Center Agencies (ARCA)
Limited information regarding the budget situation and ARCAs poition is available on the ARCA Web site at this time. All regional centers, however, did receive the following letters from ARCA that outline the Governor's budget for fical year 2005-2006.
