Currently, there is federal legislation that will be of direct impact to our families and our service providers - the Direct Support Professional Wage Bill (H.R. 1264).

Help Gather Support for the Direct Support Professional Wage Bill (H.R. 1264)
This federal bill will allow California to apply for federal Medicaid money so that service providers can pay better wages to direct support professionals. None of our congressional representatives have signed on to this bill. Please call or write to your elected official today, while they are home for the summer, and tell them how important this bill is to you. Ask them to sign on as a co-sponsor. Lanterman's Views on the Legislative Bills Being Tracked

The following is a breakdown of legislative bills that may impact our community. Lanterman's board of directors has divided the bills into three tiers:

• Tier 1 (Bills that Lanterman feels most strongly about and often require letters of support/opposition from the Lanterman community)
  
• Tier 2 (Bills that usually only require an organizational letter of support/opposition.)
  
• Tier 3 (Bills that are being watched and may move to another tier if language changes.)
