Placement Specialist - Pasadena/CLO Unit
Full-time$3,379 - $4,117
Positon SummaryUnder the direction of the regional manager, incumbent performs service coordination and community placement planning, with and on behalf of, individuals residing at the State Developmental Center (SDC) under legal commitment. Participates in assessments, planning meetings, legal proceedings, and ensures that needed and court-ordered services and programming are being provided to assist the clientin overcoming barriers to a less restrictive community placement. Coordinates needs of the individuals, locates appropriate resources to ensure success in the community and crisis intervention using a team approach.
Position also requires ongoing knowledge or principles, techniques and trends of case management. Ability to effectively utilize and apply required knowledge; establish and maintain effective working relationships; secure accurate data and record such data systematically; prepare clear, accurate, and concise reports; analyze and interpret statistical data; analyze situations accurately and take prompt and effective action; develop network of social resources; speak and write effectively; work with a variety of people including those of different cultures and lifestyles.
Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in social, behavioral, special education or life science and four years professionally related experience, one year preferably working with persons with developmental disabilities. A master’s degree may be substituted for one year of required experience. Substantial equivalents may be substituted for the above requirements.
Valid California drivers license, current automobile insurance and adequate transportation to fulfill position responsibility are also required.

The service coordinator will ensure clients receive services and supports consistent with individual concerns, desires and priorities. The service coordinator will be expected to work in a partnership with clients, families, service providers and members of the community at large.
Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in social, behavioral, child development special education or life science and a minimum of one-year work experience.
Valid California driver’s license, current automobile insurance and adequate transportation to fulfill position responsibilities as required.
Bilingual Spanish/English required.
