February 13 ~ Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC) Users GroupThe Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC) Users Group is a monthly opportunity for users of AAC devices to socialize with other AAC users and learn some additional applications of their device. Various topics that will be covered, include:

February 8 ~ Baby Play Days for Children Birth to 2 Years of Age Come and join the Koch-Young Resource Center for a monthly play day for children birth to 2 years of age and their parents. Enjoy access to KYRC toys and play equipment, while getting to know other families. February 19 ~ Building Speech Skills ~ Strategies for Parents to Improve a Child’s Speech & Language Lanterman's Koch-Young Resource Center and Pasadena Child Development Associates present a a two-hour workshop for parents to learn how to promote their child’s speech skills on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Lanterman. Gain ideas you can incorporate in daily life and playtime with your child who is between the ages of birth to 5. Learn how to build off of your child’s interests and your family’s regular routine to motivate and support your child in finding his or her voice. February 22 and 25 ~ Winter/Spring Playgroups for Children 2 to 5 Years of Age Start Quality play time with parents can lead to improvements in skills such as communication, engagement, sensory awareness, cognitive ability and creativity. Each session of the parent-child playgroups typically runs for six weeks and will provide caregivers with play strategies and tips for engaging children with special needs to make playtime more fun and meaningful as well as exposure to a variety of play mediums and ideas for low-budget activities that can be done at home. Caregivers will also get expert advice and answers to questions from therapists who will visit the group. Sessions are conducted in English and Spanish concurrently for various age ranges between 2 and 5 years of age and at various days and times to accommodate the needs of the community.
